There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
— 1 John 4:18 NIV
The delicate gold chain slips through my fingers and falls into a pile on the floor. I quickly kneel to retrieve it, and I notice tangles and knots. My fingers labor to repair the damage, but the tight knots are unyielding, making the necklace difficult to repair. The process of using a fine pointed needle to pierce and straighten the tangled mess requires careful attention to detail to untangle the fragile chain.
It reminds me of how the devil plots to twist thoughts until my mind muddles. Sometimes my mind becomes a jumbled mess as he distorts my thoughts, causing complete chaos. When I fall for his schemes, then my mind is bound into knots. He distorts my thinking because he wants me to doubt God’s forgiveness. Satan uses deception to discourage me from walking in God’s beautiful grace by tricking me. He desires to harden my heart against God.
But God knows my heart and how to mend it. He rescues me and assures me I’m His beloved child. Then frees me from the bondage of sin by releasing the chains. A touch of God’s hand heals wounds and mends the chasm. Thus, my Savior thwarts the demonic scheme to separate me from God.

My life becomes tranquil, like the smooth necklace. He soothes my worries. His Holy Spirit corrects and keeps me on the Lord’s straight and narrow path. Knowing that I am a child of God brings me a sense of comfort, which He provides. God never promised a carefree life. Instead, He said in life there is trouble, but God’s presence comforts, strengthens, and sustains me through those situations.
Whenever I’m tempted to doubt, I focus on God’s goodness and His never-ending love. My weakness fades away while the power of Almighty God remains strong. I trust and depend upon His saving grace. Nothing is more necessary than the acceptance of Jesus’s gift of forgiveness, which brings peace of mind.
Prayer
God, help me surrender my hurts to you daily. Teach me to take this twisted hurt and use it for your glory. Give me agape love that forgives and endures. Prepare me to be your vessel.
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
— Psalm 139: 23-24 NIV
